JACINTA STEWART
Australian artist
During a sixteen-year residency in New York City from 2003 to 2019, Stewart studied life drawing at the Arts Student League, where she was awarded "Best of Show" in the graduate exhibit. During this time, she also studied illustration, printmaking, and portrait painting at the School of Visual Arts, as well as advanced drawing and painting at Hunter College. Her "Abstract Australian Seascape" series was selected by the Australian Consulate for a solo exhibit in 2012, and she was a finalist in the Brisbane Portrait Prize in 2020 and 2021. Stewart's works are part of private collections throughout Australia, Malaysia, the UK, and the USA. "My work spans a broad range of subjects and styles. I am constantly evolving as an artist, and this evolution is reflected in the scope of my exploration. When inspired a given subject, I explore it from multiple perspectives across a series of works. I am intrigued by the process of manipulating the structure of acrylic paint using various mediums, including gels, impasto and glazes. I constantly observe the world around me and enjoy the challenge of presenting what I see.'
